Insomnia Prt.2/Choices

Image
We can do what we want, Everything is a choice. We choose how to act, To flip out, rejoice, be proactive, or react. What happens when we get lost? No longer quite sure if it's your heart that's the boss. Are we selling ourselves short for a hit of that crack? Just a touch of that short adrenaline snort? It comes in all shapes and sizes, Too many innocent disguises, That make you twist and turn as the confusion rises. The haze settles in, A recurring battle that we seem to never win, Maybe we should just skip ahead and let the heart ache set in? That would be so easy, To give up, Act sleazy, Maybe run the streets, Get a little teasy, Never believing just one would work on that still cracked, emotionally armoured, old soul. Time has passed, We do our best to plug in the holes. No one gets past the armour, No more than we allow. A deadly predator, a night cat on the prowl. Maybe we're just afraid to go that deep again, So we lie in bed unable to sleep again, Still feel the...

In this Moment...

Silence. "What?" she asked from a little up above his face, making a curious face that could barley be seen in the dark. "Nothing," he replied. Silence... "This is bugging you isn't it?" she asked as she moved her hips in time to his. "What gave it away?" he asked sarcastically. "How awkward you are being about it, " she chuckled, giving away a hint of her slight accent in the darkness. "I'm not like every other girl." "Clearly," was all he replied. "Do all the girls react like that to you?" "React like what?" "Moaning, going wild. You know, the stuff you told me before..." she trailed off as she bit her lip and moved her hips faster. "Yup," he said curtly while listening to the sound of her wetness penetrating the relative silence of the room. "Well I'm different. I am a challenge. I don't really react, but it doesn't mean I...

Start From Scratch.

Image
If I could start my life from scratch, I wouldn't change shit. Lessons along the way changed my perspective, all of it, every little bit. The hurt, the pain, made me a man along the way. Make's me appreciate the way I live every day. People met along the way, love given, moments in time, memories all in a line. As the days zoom by, good things coming. You'll see.  You all there with me, even those gone, for reasons that are their own, those relationships that fell apart, ya'll still with me. Mom and pops, your shit didn't work out, but maybe it did.  Maybe this was meant to be. Your lessons live on, your teachings show in your son's.  That's me.  My little brother too, he my heart's closest homie next to you two. It's hard to find the words sometimes, but just know I'm grateful.  I don't hate you.  I want to thank you for helping me be me.  I couldn't be prouder of who I am, and who I will be. You reading this, just know th...

Letters to the Sun.

Image
"What is it about a sunset that causes strange sensations in your head and your body? It's like you are just going through the day, riding the bus, or walking down the street and the minute you look at the setting sun, your mind gets the most peculiar sensation." Stretching from behind the massive computer monitor, Jacque couldn't help but look out the window and take in the golden rays of the setting sun for just a brief moment. "Its moments like these that make me wonder what is going on out in the world. No one can really know what is going on in other people's lives, we are only trapped in the world we see from our own point of view. To think right now as I type away my idle thoughts a father is teaching his son how to throw a ball down the street while the mother is inside watching from behind the slightly drawn curtain with a smile on her lips. In the next county a group of people could be meeting to discuss a common goal or idea. Somewhere acros...

It was just a Fling

The tidal wave was subtle, but it still hit with the force of a pissed off line backer at a varsity football game. The air was gray and murky. A blind person wouldn't make it two feet in this environment. Hell, a person with perfect eye sight could barely make it four feet without bumping into something unexpected. It was like walking amongst a sea of zombies but with the added luxury of being invisible. Could you imagine the carnage if you weren't? The noxious fumes of the gray clouds mingled with the unpleasant ashy taste that they left in the mouth. It wasn't something you could experience with any regularity back home, that was for sure. There was an even subtler hint of what could only be described as the unmentionable contents of a rundown outhouse in the air, mingled with the stench of as many drunk homeless as could be piled into a room. "Ah. Frankfurt International Airport. How I haven't missed you." I mumbled to myself as I unconsciously wrinkl...

Rickety Table Tea

Image
Rock forth, rock back rickety table tea. Blood red, yet tastey as can be. Trains barrel by, hear them I do. Don't really care what is in them, where they're going, or where they've been through. Too tired to wonder, too tired to speak, yet awake I am again wanting to do both, not a wink tonight I fear I will sleep. To those who roam the night, may you be cheery and blessed.  A bed kept warm with a teddy bear or a lover's caress. What about me? I'll sit here and just be for now, keeping solitarey company with my music and rickety table tea.

The First.

He will never set the world on fire. Not like this. I could see it in his writing. Such a young talent, with the gift to make words leap off the page and become a golden palace deep in the middle of an unforgiving desert, or a happy monkey enjoying the simple pleasures of a meal in a local zoo. The boy had the touch. What happened? It was unlike Oliver to leave his assignments undone. An A plus student did not just stop writing and working to the point where his grades began to drastically slip. I leaned back heavily in my creaky wooden chair, burdened with the mystery and observed the class with my hands wrapped behind my neck, supporting the full weight of my weary head. They were just an average eight grade class full of young boys on the cusp of becoming young men, and young girls already going through that awkward stage as they developed into radiant young women. I guess they were all a little awkward. How many of these boys and girls would lead the future of ...
